The No. 4 Lindenwood wrestling team (4-1, 4-0 GLVC) put up a fight against NCAA Division I No. 13 Iowa State on Saturday, as the Lions fell 28-9 in Ames, Iowa.

Lindenwood jumped out to a 3-0 lead after
Cevion Severado opened the dual with a 14-10 decision in the 125-pound match. The Cyclones won back-to-back matches, before No. 1
Gavin Londoff took down Ben Monroe in a 2-1 decision. Iowa State picked up another pair of wins, but No. 1
Abner Romero made it a 15-9 deficit with his 8-3 decision victory. Earlier in the 141-pound match, No. 2
Colby Smith was down late to No. 5 Ian Parker. Smith nearly secured a last-second takedown, but it was ruled after time expired.
The Lions did not back down to the Division I powerhouse, as the dual ended in a 28-9 win for the Cyclones. Iowa State was ranked No. 13 in the NWCA Division I Coaches Poll, as well as No. 8 in the Flowrestling poll.
