The Lindenwood men's soccer team (5-5-1, 5-4-1) fell by a score of 3-1 to No. 14 Maryville (10-2-1, 8-2-0 GLVC) on Sunday afternoon from St. Louis, Mo.
MATCH OVERVIEW
It was a slow start to the match as the fist shot didn't come until the 13th minute of the match. Shortly after,
Feho Sabotic rocketed the ball into the back of the net off a scrambled Lindenwood throw-in, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. The goal ties Sabotic for the team lead in goals with three.
The Lions were strong defensively in the half, limiting the Saints to just five shots, including two on goal. Goalkeeper
Zachary Martin had the answer each time as Lindenwood took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
The Saints netted the equalizer in the 52nd minute, knotting the score 1-1 early in the second half. Maryville struck again 10 minutes later, taking its first lead of the game, 2-1 in the 62nd minute.
Maryville extended its lead late in the match, making the score 3-1, a lead that would stick, as the Saints picked up the victory.
