The Lindenwood women's hockey team (0-6-0, 0-0-0 CHA) is set to open its conference slate this weekend in a two-game series against Syracuse (1-4-2, 0-0-0 CHA). Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, all from Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo.
Â
Lindenwood was idle last week and will return home after completing a four-game road trip in Minnesota against St. Cloud State and Minnesota State, respectively, in which the Lions lost three games by two goals or less.
Â
In the final game against Minnesota State on October 9, the Lions scored five goals in the third period to take a brief 6-5 lead but fell 7-6 in overtime. The five goals are the most a CHA team has scored against a non-conference opponent in a single period this season,
Â
Through six games this season, the Lions are led by
Valerie Caldwell (2 G, 3 A) and
Sierra Burt (1 G, 4 A) who have five points each. Burt picked up four points on one goal and three assists against Minnesota State
Â
The Lions and Orange will meet for the 43rd time on Friday as the Orange hold a 35-5-2 advantage since the two teams first squared off in 2011. Syracuse defeated Lindenwood five times last season, including ousting them from the CHA Tournament last March.
Â
The Lions will be looking for their first win over the Orange since 2018,
