Football Heads to William Jewell on Saturday

The Lindenwood football team (6-2, 4-0 GLVC) will head to Liberty, Mo. to take on William Jewell (0-8, 0-4 GLVC) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Lindenwood is coming off a 48-24 win over Southwest Baptist, in which the Lions scored points five different ways in all three phases of the game.  Spencer Redd scored the first punt return touchdown for Lindenwood since the 2012 season, while Jordan Perry registered a pick six for the first time since 2018.  Logan Seibert knocked in a pair of field goals, including the second-longest in program history when he drilled a 50-yard field goal.

Redd was honored with his second GLVC Special Teams Player of the Week honor on Monday.  The Springfield, Ill. native is one of three Lions to earn the award this year, and he is the only repeat winner for Lindenwood.

Lindenwood entered the first NCAA Division II Regional rankings as the No. 4 team in Super Region Three.  The Lions have rattled off six-straight wins after starting the season 0-2, and recently won their 11th-straight victory inside conference play.

The Lions hold a 9-7 edge over the Cardinals in the series history.  Lindenwood has won five-straight over William Jewell, including a 28-16 victory in 2019.  The Cardinals are winless on the season, including an 0-3 mark at home.  In September, William Jewell lost back-to-back games by 10 points to non-conference opponents.

The Cardinals are led defensively by Kian Betancourt who has compiled 9.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.  As a team, William Jewell has 52.0 tackles for loss and 12.0 sacks on defense.
