The Lindenwood football team (8-2, 6-0 GLVC) will honor its senior class on Saturday, as the Lions host McKendree (4-6, 3-3 GLVC) at 1:00 p.m. from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
Lindenwood will look to sweep the GLVC clean for the second time in as many seasons competing in the league. The Lions have already claimed the conference championship outright, after they took down Missouri S&T by a final of 43-16.Â
Drew Seers and
Alex Faddoul each put together strong performances, as they were named GLVC Players of the Week.
On Monday, the NCAA released the national and regional rankings heading into the final week of the season. Lindenwood sits at No. 5 in Super Region Three, and have earned 20 votes in the AFCA Coaches Poll. The Lions appeared as the No. 22 team in Division II in the D2Football.com poll.
Lindenwood is posting strong numbers in all areas of the game, most notably in the interception category. The Lions have picked off 16 passes on the season, as
Kai Ross (6) and Seers (4) account for 10 of those interceptions to place the Lions fifth in NCAA Division II. On the other side of the ball, the Lions have only thrown four interceptions, which ranks eighth in the nation.
Seers is averaging 10.6 total tackles per game this year, which ranks ninth in the country. Over the course of his career, Seers has accumulated 443 tackles, which stands in a tie for first place among active players across all divisions of NCAA football.
Lindenwood and McKendree will meet for the fourth time in the series history. The Lions hold a 2-1 edge over the Bearcats, including a 45-37 win in 2019. Lindenwood is looking for its 14th straight conference victory on Saturday, to remain unblemished in GLVC contests. Â
