The Lindenwood men's basketball team fell 85-40 to NCAA Division I opponent Northwestern in an exhibition game on Thursday from Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Ill.
The Lions struggled offensively in the first half, shooting just 5-24 from the field and trailed 33-15 at the break. Lindenwood held Northwestern to 33 percent shooting during the opening 20 minute, while limiting the Wildcats to just two three pointers. Northwestern extended its lead throughout the second half, shooting 57 percent from the field, including 22 points in the paint. The Lions struggled to keep pace with the wildcats throughout the game.
Lindenwood had two players record double figures led by
Romelo Burrell and
Karrington Davis, who led the team with 12 points apiece. Â Davis finished 5-10 from the floor including a pair of three point makes.
Trent Champagne also knocked in two three-point field goals.
Lindenwood will open the regular season on Friday, November 12 against Parkside in the Lindenwood Tip-off Classic from Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. Opening tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
