Women's Basketball Plays Host to Quincy on Thursday

The Lindenwood women's basketball team (1-4, 1-0 GLVC) continues its home stand with a matchup against Quincy (1-5, 0-1 GLVC) on Thursday at 5;30 p.m. inside Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
 
Lindenwood opened up conference play on Monday and picked up a 69-62 victory over Maryville. This marked the Lions' first win over the Saints in four tries. Three Lindenwood players are currently averaging double-figure points, led by Julia Ruzevich who averages 18.2 points per contest.
 
In the win, Ruzevich poured in a game-high 24 points on 9-17 shooting from the field, while also grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out three assists. Devin Fuhring made her first start of the season, propelling the Lindenwood offense along with Ruzevich.
 
Fuhring dropped a season-high 21 points in the contest, adding five assist and three rebounds. The St. James, Mo. native shot 7-11 from the field, including 3-4 from behind the three point line. Ellen McCorkle was big on the defensive end, grabbing 12 rebounds and blocking three shots. The Oregon, Wis. native is tied for the team lead, pulling down 9.2 rebounds per game.
 
As a team, Lindenwood blocked nine Maryville shots, its most since denying ten Indianapolis shots in the season-finale last season. The Lions are currently averaging 5.2 blocks per game, tops among GLVC foes.
 
The Hawks enter Thursday's game with a 1-5 record, including dropping its conference opener to UMSL by a score of 61-47. Quincy is led by Beth Matas Martin who averages 10 points and 4.5 assists per game.
 
The Lions will be looking for their sixth-consecutive win over Quincy, as Lindenwood won both meetings last season.
