The Lindenwood women's basketball team (8-7, 8-7 GLVC) suffered a home loss to Maryville (8-9, 8-9 GLVC), 70-58, on Thursday.
In the first half, the Lions shot 32.4 percent from the field, 28.6 percent on threes, and 75.0 percent on free throw attempts. Lindenwood outrebounded Maryville, 23-20, and had double the assists that the Saints did, 10-5. However, the Lions turned the ball over nine times and received zero points from their bench. 24 of the Saints' 40 first half points were scored in the paint, while 16 of the Lions' 31 points were in the paint.
Lindenwood was outscored, 30-27, in the second half of the game. The Lions were held to 25.0 percent shooting from the field and 16.7 percent from deep. The team shot 77.8 percent on nine free throw attempts in the final 20 minutes. The Lions notched 26 total rebounds in the second half to the Saints' 21.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions were outscored, 23-16, in the first quarter.
- Lindenwood shot 30.0 percent from the field in the opening quarter and 14.3 percent from deep.
- After trailing, 12-6, the Lions battled back within two on back-to-back made free throws by Ellen McCorkle.
- The Saints closed out the opening period on an 11-6 run.
- The second period saw the Lions continued to be outscored, 17-15, as they held the Saints to seven less points than the first quarter.
- At halftime, Devin Fuhring posted a team-leading 13 points. The Lions trailed, 40-31, after the first 20 minutes.
- The Lions struggled offensively in the third period, scoring eight points.
- The team was 3-15 on shot attempts in the third quarter.
- Lindenwood's highest-scoring quarter in the game was the fourth, as they outscored Maryville, 19-12.
- The Lions held the Saints to six free throw attempts in the game. Lindenwood was 10-13 at the charity stripe.

- Fuhring led the Lions with 25 points. McCorkle added 14 and Julia Ruzevich had 11.
- McCorkle's 13 rebounds paced the team.

- McCorkle's 13 rebounds tied a career-record.
- Kendra Lee set a career-high with seven rebounds against Maryville.
