The Lions claimed the top spot in the initial American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division I Ranking released this week, the first since March 2020. Since only 19 teams have actually played games in the 2020-21 season, the poll included just the top 10 teams based on a combination of two computer rankings.
Lindenwood was idle this past weekend, but has posted a perfect 6-0-0 record so far, most recently earning a sweep of Central States Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL) foe Ohio with 6-4 and 4-1 wins February 2-3. Adrian landed at No. 2 after a split with the Bobcats last Thursday and Friday, improving to 8-1-0 overall. No. 3 Davenport and No. 4 Calvin University split a home and home series over the weekend, each team winning on the visitor's ice. The Knights took the opening contest and improved to 2-1-0 while the Panthers claimed the finale to match that record at 2-1-0. Liberty rounded out the top five after taking a pair of games from Ohio on Monday and Tuesday. The Flames improved to 2-2-0.
After seeing a series with Maryville postponed February 13-14, the Lions host Iowa State University February 20-21 in CSCHL action. The puck drops at 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon and at 2:10 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
