Women's Volleyball Downs William Jewell 3-0 in Saturday's Tri-Meet

The Lindenwood women's volleyball team (6-5, 6-5 GLVC) secured a 3-0 victory against William Jewell (0-13, 0-12 GLVC) at a tri-meet hosted by No. 1 Lewis (11-0, 11-0 GLVC) on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED IN MATCH ONE
  • The Lions picked up an opening set win, 25-14.
  • After going up 11-9 in the first set, Lindenwood closed it out on a 14-5 run.
  • The second set went the Lions' way, 26-24, after the Cardinals pushed it to extras.
  • Lindenwood led William Jewell early in the second, 12-3.
  • The third and final set saw Lindenwood win, 25-22, securing the win.
  • The two teams traded leads early, but a 24-19 lead was all the Lions needed to finish off the match.
  • The squad outkilled the Cardinals, 44-34.
  • The Lions won their fourth-straight match with a 3-0 takedown of William Jewell.

HOW IT HAPPENED IN MATCH TWO
  • The Lions fell, 3-0, in the second match of the day, to No. 1 Lewis.
  • The first set finished in close defeat, 25-23.
  • A 7-0 run by the Lions brought the score to 16-14 in favor of Lindenwood.
  • With the Lions up, 23-22, a 3-0 run by Lewis secured the early 1-0 lead for the Flyers.
  • The second set was dominated by Lewis, as they won 25-18, to go up 2-0.
  • The third set once again saw the Flyers end on a 3-0 run to take the set victory, as the teams were tied late at 22-22.
  • The Lions finished with more aces than the Flyers, 5-4.
  • The loss to Lewis ended Lindenwood's winning streak of four matches.
