The Lindenwood women's hockey team (2-14-1) fell in the opening round of the CHA Tournament to Syracuse (11-8-1) by a final score of 6-0 on Thursday night from Erie, Pa.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions killed an early penalty, but Syracuse kept up the sustained pressure as the Orange got on the board at the 15:00 minute mark of the opening frame, giving themselves a 1-0 lead. Less than five minutes later, Syracuse would extend its lead, Lindenwood registered 10 shots on goal in the period, but couldn't get one past the Orange netminder, as Syracuse took a 2-0 lead into the locker room.
Just 27 seconds into the second, Syracuse would add a third goal, making its lead 3-0. The Orange would go on to net two more goals in the frame, making their lead 5-0 after 40 minutes of play. Lindenwood generated 21 shots, including 10 on goal in the frame.
The Lions battled in the third period, as the shots on goal were 13-10 in favor of the Orange. Syracuse protected the lead and picked up a 6-0 victory.
