McGuire's Eight Point Day Lifts No. 2 Women's Lacrosse Past Maryville

The No. 2 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (8-0, 3-0 GLVC) remained perfect on the season with a 18-3 win over Maryville (1-6, 1-2 GLVC) on Sunday afternoon from St. Louis, Mo.
 
GAME OVERVIREW
The Lions got off to a strong start on both sides of the ball in this one, netting the first eight goals of the game, with four coming from the stick of Erin McGuire.  Defensively, Lindenwood didn't allow a shot on goal until the 15:21 mark of the opening half. Lindenwood would head into halftime with a 12-1 lead. In the half, the Lions limited the Saints to just two shots, while scooping up 15 ground balls, while causing 10 Maryville turnovers.

The Lions outscored Maryville 6-2 in the second half as Emma Wildhart scored a pair of goals to lead Lindenwood in the half. Once again, the defense was strong, limiting the Saints to just three shots in the second half, while scooping up 10 ground balls and forcing 10 Maryville turnovers.

- The six goals are tied for fifth most in a game during the NCAA Era.
- Lindsey Smith and Carly Fedorowski added a team-leading three assists.
- Hailey Dobbins scooped up a team-high five ground balls.
- Dobbins also caused three turnovers, tops on the team.
 
UP NEXT
The Lions return home for a matchup with Missouri Western on Friday, April 16.  The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
