The No. 2 Lindenwood baseball team (12-2, 8-2 GLVC) lost a pair of games on Friday to Lewis (14-8, 12-6 GLVC) in Romeoville, Ill. by scores of 13-8 and 6-3 respectively. It is the first time the Lions have lost since February 2, 2020.
GAME ONE OVERVIEW
Lindenwood jumped on the board in the first inning of the series, after a double to right center by
Bryce Beckmann brought in
Calvin Nowak from first base. Lewis took advantage of a windy day and hit a solo home run in each of the first two innings to take a 2-1 lead. Beckmann registered another RBI in the top of the third to tie the game. The Flyers regained the lead in the bottom of the inning on a two-run home run.
Kolby Schulte led off the top of the fifth with a solo shot to centerfield, cutting the deficit to one run. Lewis broke the game open I the bottom of the fifth inning with six runs on five hits and two fielding errors by the Lions.
Will Lanxon earned an RBI in the sixth inning, making it a 10-4 ballgame. Lindenwood struggled to slow the offensive production, as the Flyers built their lead to nine runs after scoring three in the bottom of the seventh.
Johnny Herrman was able to get those runs back in the top of the eighth after belting a three-run home run. Schulte drove in another run in the ninth inning, but it was too little too late in the first game.

GAME TWO OVERVIEW
Lewis continued to stay hot at the plate, as the Flyers took a quick 3-0 lead after the first inning. Nowak doubled in the top of the second inning and later scored on a single by Herrman. The Flyers scored three more runs in the bottom of the fourth, extending their lead to 6-1. Lindenwood cut the lead to three runs, after RBI singles by Lanxon and
Mitchell Krebs. The Lions ran out of chances in the second game, Lindenwood fell 6-3 in seven innings.
