#11 Baseball Upends Missouri S&T, 8-4, at the GLVC Tournament

The No. 11 Lindenwood baseball team (30-7, 25-7 GLVC) picked up an opening round win, 8-4, over Missouri S&T on Thursday at the GLVC Championships in St. Charles, Mo.

GAME OVERVIEW
After going down early in the game, 2-0, the Lions responded with a Kolby Schulte triple to left field to bring home Beau Collier and cut the deficit in half, 2-1, after one frame.
A third inning tack-on run for the Miners pushed the lead to 3-1 in favor of Missouri S&T. Lindenwood would go on to score seven unanswered runs, however, with five of those tallies coming across in the bottom of the fourth.

An Alex Canty single up the middle scored Bryce Beckmann in the bottom of the third to once again bring the team within one run, 3-2. The Lindenwood offense exploded in the fourth, as five Lions touched home plate to give Lindenwood a 7-3 lead through four. The inning was helped by doubles from Will Lanxon and Canty, who finished with three runners driven in.

The final Lindenwood run of the game came in the bottom of the fifth on a Jack Lochner single to the shortstop which allowed Jayce Maag to race home. On the mound, Blake Beckmann fired seven innings, while tallying seven strikeouts, en route to his seventh win of the campaign. Justin Taylor struck out three in two perfect innings.

The Lions' 8-4 win was the team's first-ever GLVC Tournament win in program history.
