No. 11 Baseball Advances to First-Ever GLVC Championship

Nico Marshall and Brody Roach combined for a shutout win as No. 11 Lindenwood baseball (32-7) clinched a berth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship game against No. 5 Illinois Springfield, after taking down Indianapolis (23-21), 9-0.
 
GAME OVERVIEW
In the team's penultimate game of the GLVC Tournament, the Lions received 5.2 scoreless innings from sophomore Niko Marshall, alongside five strikeouts. Brody Roach relieved Marshall, tossing 4.1 innings, and earning the save. Roach finished the game with five strikeouts.
 
Both teams were held scoreless through the first four innings in the Saturday nightcap. The Lions broke out a five-spot in the top of the fifth, on fielder's choice plays off the bats of Will Lanxon and Beau Collier, a Bryce Beckmann single up the middle, and a two-RBI single from Johnny Herrman.
 
Lindenwood added four more runs in the top of the sixth inning on a Lanxon bunt single, a Beau Collier single to left field, and a Kolby Schulte base hit to right field. This season, the Lions' three-highest scoring innings have been the fourth through the sixth. In Saturday's game, the team scored nine run between the fifth and six innings.
 
The Lions will play in their first-ever GLVC Championship game, which comes in the program's first-ever appearance in the conference's postseason tournament. The Lions are 3-0 in GLVC Tournament contests.
