No. 2 Women's Lacrosse Advances to First-Ever National Championship

The No. 2 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team (16-1, 7-0 GLVC) will get a chance to play in its first-ever NCAA National Championship game after defeating Roberts Wesleyan College (14-2, 6-1 ECC) by a score of 12-9 in the NCAA semifinal game on Friday night from Salem, Va.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, but the Redhawks battled back, scoring the next two goals, making the score 4-2 with 15:32 remaining in the opening half.  Lindenwood was strong on the defensive side of the ball, forcing 12 Roberts Wesleyan turnovers, while outshooting the Redhawks 16-7 in the opening half, which allowed the Lions to take a 6-3 lead into halftime. Emma Arnold led the way offensively for Lindenwood, scoring two goals. Lindenwood controlled the game by winning 9-of-12 draw controls in the opening half.

The Lions found the back of the net six times in the second half, with four coming off the stick of Erin McGuire, which allowed Lindenwood to maintain a comfortable lead in the half. The Lions outshot the Redhawks 29-17 in the game, while forcing 22 turnovers on the defensive end, their second-most in a game this season. Despite each team trading goals in the second half, Lindenwood earned a birth into its first-ever NCAA National Championship game with a 12-9 victory.
