The Lindenwood baseball team (34-9) saw its season end on Saturday in the Midwest Regional from Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions fell by a score of 7-5 to the Northwood Timberwolves.
GAME OVERVIEW
After the Timberwolves jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top half of the first inning, the Lions responded quickly as
Mitchell Krebs drove in
Will Lanxon who led off the game with a walk. Two batters later,
Alex Canty hit a double down the left field line, which scored Krebs and
Kolby Schulte, giving Lindenwood a 3-2 lead. Northwood responded with two runs on four hits in the top of the second, regaining a 4-3 lead.
Lindenwood tied the game in the bottom of the fourth as the team played small ball.Â
Jayce Maag drove in Canty on a slow chopper to third base after the first two hitters of the inning were able to reach. The Lions grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth, when Schulte sent a ball to the right center field gap for a one out triple. Krebs, the next batter sent the first-pitch he saw for an RBI single.
Northwood tied the game in the top of the sixth and created some separation with two more runs in the top of the seventh, taking a 7-5 lead, which would be the final score.
