Lindenwood field hockey (4-2) capped off its three-game home stand with a victory over Mercyhurst (0-4) on Sunday, 2-1.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions started the scoring with a late first quarter goal from
Mia Simpson, unassisted, putting the team up, 1-0. Lindenwood amassed eight shots in the opening quarter of the match to Mercyhurst's two shots. In the second quarter, both teams failed to find the net, bring it to a 1-0 score at the half point in the game.
In the third quarter, the defense continued to reign supreme, with neither team scoring a point. Lindenwood did not allow Mercyhurst to get a shot up in the third, while the Lions tallied five shots in the period.
Rachel Bannatyne tacked on a goal early in the fourth quarter to put the team up, 2-0.
