The Lindenwood women's hockey team (0-0-0, 0-0-0 CHA) is set to open the 2021-22 regular season with a two-game series against top-ranked Wisconsin (0-0-0, 0-0-0 WCHA). Puck drop is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. from Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo. 

This marks the sixth time since 2005-06 Lindenwood has opened its season against Wisconsin, including four out of the last five years. 

Wisconsin enters the season as the top-ranked team in the USCHO poll after capturing its sixth National Championship  in school history a year ago, The Lions last win versus a ranked team came on January 5th 2018 when the Lions defeated No. 10 St. Lawrence, 5-4. 

The Lions and Badgers last met in September of 2019 when Wisconsin picked up a pair of victories by scores of 4-0 and 6-2, respectively 

Megan Wagner and Sierra Burt return up front for Lindenwood. Burt led the team with eight points (three goals, five assists) across 10 games played a year ago. Wagner, a native of Niles, Ill. paced the team with six goals and 45 shot attempts in 17 games played last season.

Annika Asplundh returns between the pipes,  The New Hope, Pa. native started 15 games a year ago, compiling a 3.01 goals against average to go along with a .918 save percentage. The senior netminder earned CHA Goalie of the Week once last season after earning a series sweep against RIT. 

Lindenwood will look to earn it first victory in a season-opener since October 1, 2010 when the Lions defeated Penn State by a score of 2-0. 

Back on September 16th, the Lions were picked to finish fourth in the CHA Preseason Poll, receiving a total of 11 points.
