After having three-straight games canceled due to COVID-19, the Lindenwood women's basketball team (5-5, 2-1 GLVC) returns to the court after nearly a month off to take on Illinois Springfield (7-3, 2-2 GLVC).  Opening tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CST from Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. 

Lindenwood finished the 2021 portion of its schedule on a three-game winning streak, most recently picking up a 75-59 win on Dec. 19, 2021, Julia Ruzevich led Lindenwood offensively, compiling her fifth-straight double-double, registering 24 points, while grabbing 13 rebounds. Devin Fuhring added 21 points,on the way to joining the 1,000-career point club, becoming the fifth member during Lindenwood's NCAA Era to do so.

Hennessey Handy was the other Lindenwood player in double figures, as the Joilet, Ill, native filled up the stat sheet, recording 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Emily Benzschawel made her first start of the season and provided eight points, five rebounds and two assists.

Ellen McCorkle has been a solid contributor so far this season, averaging 12.5 points and 7.4 rebounds, which ranks second on the team. The Lions are compiling 41,6 boards per game so far this season, which ranks second among GLVC squads.

The Lions will be looking for their fourth win over Illinois Springfield since joining the GLVC, as Thursday will mark the fifth meeting between the schools since becoming conference opponents.
