The Lindenwood women's hockey team (5-15-0, 3-3-0 CHA) will get back to the ice on Friday, as the Lions visit Mercyhurst (14-7-2, 4-2-0 CHA) for a two-game set in Erie, Pa. starting at 5:00 p.m. CST.
Lindenwood is coming off a pair of losses to No. 2 Ohio State this past weekend. Friday's loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Lions, which they carrier over from a perfect month of hockey in December.Â
Lindenwood went 4-0, picking up two wins over RIT and two wins over St. Thomas to close out the 2021 portion of the schedule.
In Columbus, Ohio, the Lions struggled to keep the Buckeyes off the board, but
Sierra Burt and
Morgan Neitzke each posted a pair of points in Friday's game. Burt registered an assist on each goal, while Neitzke scored the first goal of the game for the Lions.
Casey Adimey netted the other goal for Lindenwood, as she continued her hot streak after recently being named the CHA Defenseman of the Month. Adimey is tied for fourth on the team with nine points, which includes four goals and five assists.
Burt is the team leader with 18 points, and 14 assists.Â
Valerie Caldwell and
Megan Wagner are tied for the top spot on the squad with five goals each. Lindenwood has seen scoring from 18 different players, as 13 of those player have compiled multiple goals on the season.
Defensively,
Teagan Heaslip is locked in with a team-high 35 blocks, while also adding five points on offense.Â
Kayla Martinez is not far behind with 31 blocks, as she too has accumulated five points on the year.Â
