Women's Hockey Heads to No. 2 Ohio State This Weekend

The Lindenwood women's hockey team (5-13-0, 3-3-0 CHA) returns to the ice and will open up the second half of its season against No. 2 Ohio State from Columbus, Ohio. Puck drop in game one is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CST, while game two is set for 2:00 p.m. CST.

The Lions closed out the 2021 portion of their schedule on a four-game winning streak, with sweeps over RIT and St. Thomas. Lindenwood has won four-consecutive games for the first time since the 2011-12 season.

Lindenwood defeated the Tommies by scores of 4-3 and 4-1, respectively, with the first game being an overtime victory.

Casey Adimey netted the game-winning goal in the overtime session, her first goal of the year. The senior defenseman continued her strong play in game two, finding the back of the net at the 17:50 mark of the first period, which extended Lindenwood's lead. Adimey picked up a helper on a score by Rachel Goff early in the final frame and then sealed the victory, finding the empty net with 1:56 to go.

For her efforts against St. Thomas, Adimey was named CHA Defenseman of the Week after recording three goals and one assist, including two game-winning goals. Adimey joins Morgan Neitzke and Natalie Ferenc as Lindenwood players who have captured CHA weekly honors this season

Lindenwood boasts nine players who have netted three goals or more, led by Maddison Stitt, Valerie Caldwell and Megan Wagner who have compiled five apiece. Sierra Burt leads the team in points with 16 (4 G, 12 A). The 12 assists are tied for third most in the CHA.

Ohio State enters the weekend as the No. 2 team in the country, with a record of 15-3-0, including a 13-3-0 mark inside WCHA play. The Buckeyes have won nine of their last ten games.

The Lions will play their third ranked team this season, as they have faced No, 1 Wisconsin and No. 9 Clarkson already this year.
