The Lindenwood men's soccer team (1-7-1, 0-2-0 OVC) fell by a score of 2-1 to Evansville (4-2-2, 1-1-0 MVC) on Saturday night from Evansville, Ind.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Purple Aces took an early 1-0 lead, scoring in the 12th minute.
Meldin Sabotic settled in throughout the half, making three saves. The Lions generated two corners across the first 45 minutes, but were unable to get on the board, as they trailed 1-0 at the half.
Evansville extended its lead less than three minutes into the second half, going up 2-0 in the 50st minute. Lindenwood made a push after the goal but attempts by
Anis Smajlovic and
Feho Sabotic were denied. In the 78th minute, the Lions drew a penalty kick attempt after working in the offensive zone. Sabotic stepped up to take it, but the Purple Aces keeper was up to the task. Shortly after,
Cooper Wilson found the back of the net, cutting the deficit to 2-1. He was assisted by
Devin Livingstone and
Caleb Soots.
Lindenwood made a late push to tie the game, including a shot by
Alex Imig in the 90th minute, but the Purple Aces were able to hang onto the lead, earning the 2-1 victory on Saturday night.
