The Lindenwood men's soccer team (3-8-1, 2-3-0 SL) picked up a 2-0 shutout win over Southern Indiana (1-11-2, 1-4-0 SL) on Sunday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood was on the attack throughout the opening half, outshooting Southern Indiana 12-6, including a 3-2 edge in shots on goal. Four Lindenwood players registered at least two attempts with
Devin Livingstone,
Anis Smajlovic and
Roland Dearborne directing shots on target. The Lions compiled three corner kicks in the opening half but were unable to find the back of the net as the game was scoreless heading into halftime.
USI had to play with 10 men for the majority of the second half after an early booking and Lindenwood took advantage.
Roland Dearborn took the ball down the right side and found
Caleb Soots who buried the ball into the back of the net, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later,
Anis Smajlovic doubled the Lindenwood lead, assisted by
Ryan Harvatin and Dearborn. Lindenwood held onto the lead throughout the second half and picked up the 2-0 victory.
