ST. CHARLES, MO. - The Lindenwood field hockey team celebrated their seniors with a 3-0 win over Maryville in Hunter Stadium on Saturday night.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions set the tone early on, looking sharp right out of the gate. The home team outshot the Saints 17-3 in the first half of play, playing strong both offensively and defensively.
In the last nine seconds before the half, Marina Evert took a penalty corner to set
Pauline Terwindt up for a shot, which deflected off the Maryville goalkeeper. Evert got back into the mix and found the back off the net off the rebound, pushing the Lions ahead 1-0 in the last three seconds before halftime.
Terwindt found the back of the net shortly after, however, kicking off the third period with an unassisted goal to give Lindenwood the 2-0 lead.
The final Lions goal came from
Allie Hosto, who didn't give up on a scramble right in front of Maryville's net. Hosto gave the Lions a 3-0 lead with just a few minutes remaining in the game, sealing things off in a winning fashion.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Evert, Terwindt and Hosto each scored for the Lions, while Terwindt also tallied an assist.
The Lions recorded 37 total shots on the game, while the Saints were only able to put up three.
Kyla Cooke only had to make one save and allowed zero goals all game, putting up a strong 60 minutes in net.
