Football Heads to Tennessee Tech on Saturday

The Lindenwood football team (6-2, 1-2 OVC) will hit the road for the final time this season to take on Tennessee Tech (2-6, 1-3 OVC) on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. start in Cookeville, Tenn.

The Lions are coming off of a 64-23 win over William Jewell, as Payton Rose set a new school mark for receiving touchdowns in a career on his third score of the game.  Rose now holds the career mark for receptions (178), receiving yards (3,133), and receiving touchdowns (33).  In the game, Cade Brister went for 326 which was the sixth time this season he has gone over 300 yards passing in a game.  Brister now has over 10,000 passing yards in his career, to go along with 1,840 yards on the ground.

Lindenwood has put together a four-game winning streak, moving to six wins on the year.  The Lions started their run with a 52-49 win over Central Arkansas on the road, before taking down Eastern Illinois by a 37-34 margin in double overtime.  In the past two home games, Lindenwood earned its first OVC win with a 33-18 victory over Murray State, before posting a season-high 64 points over William Jewell this past weekend.  Over the course of the last three games, the defense has allowed a minuscule 17 (5.7 per game) points combined in the second half, excluding the overtime period.

The only two losses on the year for the Lions have been to UT Martin and Southeast Missouri.  Currently, the Skyhawks are ranked No. 15, while the Redhawks come in at No. 20 in the most recent AFCA FCS Coaches Poll.

The Lions are 3-1 on the road this season, winning their last two games by a combined six points.  Lindenwood is averaging 34.0 points in four road contests this year.  The Lions are averaging over 500 yards of offense per game, which is right with the top teams in the FCS.  Brister plays a big part in the success of the offense, as his 364.4 total offensive yards per game rank atop the conference.
