The Lindenwood men's wrestling team traveled to Drury University to participate in the Drury Open in Springfield, Mo., on Saturday. The Lions secured two place winners, including
Kaden Charboneau, who placed second, and
Trevor Wilson, who placed fourth.
Overview
Charboneau placed second in the 165-pound bracket at the Drury Open, going 3-1 on the day after receiving a bye in the first round. In the second round, the Oklahoma native won by a decision of 5-1 over unattached Josiah Wakefield. In the quarterfinal round, Charboneau pinned his opponent Jackson Beene from Westminster College (Mo.) at the 6:43 mark to earn the second victory of the day. In the semifinal match, Charboneau faced Central Methodist University's Justin McEnaney, where Charboneau won by decision 8-3. In the well-anticipated first-place match, Charboneau faced Newman University's Jace Fisher, falling to Fisher by pin.
Freshman
Trevor Wilson went 4-2 on the day in the 165-pound bracket. In Wilson's four wins of the day, Wilson would win all of them by pin. In Wilson's first round, the Missouri native would pin his opponent at the 2:38 mark. In the second round, Wilson pinned his opponent at the 0:41 mark. Wilson pinned William Jewell's John Jenkins in the quarterfinal bout at the 1:01 mark. In the semifinals, the Missouri native would face Newman's Jace Fisher, who would win the 165-pound bracket. Wilson would fall to Jace Fisher in the bout by a major decision. Wilson then would compete in the fourth round of the consolation bracket pinning Jackson Beene from Westminster College at the 0:43 mark. Wilson would lose by pin the third-place bout earning fourth place.
