The Lions on Sunday faced some steep competition at the Cougar Clash, facing numerous ranked opponents in various weight classes. Teams that were at the Cougar Clash included the University of Missouri, Northern Illinois, Northern Colorado, Little Rock, and SIUE. The day's highlight from the Black and Gold came from

Caiden Pelc was the lions' lone victor of the day. Pelc went 1-3 on the day in the 133-pound bracket. In Pelc's first match of the day, Pelc faced Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville's Aaron Schulist, losing to Schulist by pin at the 4:44 mark. In the second match, consolation round one, Pelc would be victorious over Northern Illinois's Bryce West. In this match, the bout was tightly contested until the very end. Pelc would earn points in the first period by a takedown at the 0:14 mark and escaping twice at the 0:33 and 1:14 mark ending the period trailing 6-4. Pelc would come back and win the match by pin at the 4:34 mark. The freshman would lose his last two matches of the day by a major decision and technical fall.
