Men's Volleyball Falls to Purdue Fort Wayne in Indiana

The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (2-4) fell to Purdue Fort Wayne (7-4) on Friday night in Indiana in four sets.

OVERVIEW
Purdue Fort Wayne ran away with the first set, beating the Lions 25-13. The Mastadons knocked down four service aces and 11 kills, making it a tough climb for Lindenwood to come back out on top. Phil Swartz led the way with two kills, contributing to his 12 overall throughout the rest of the sets. Diego Negron put up the same number of kills for the Lions, tying with Swartz on Lindenwood's leaderboard in first for kills.

The second set was a closer affair, and Lindenwood closed the gap with a 24-26 loss this time. The defensive presence increased for the Lions, bringing two blocks into the mix while the Mastadons had zero. Lindenwood also tallied one attack error in the set while Purdue Fort Wayne had six, cleaning up their offensive presence as well.

The Lions finally triumphed in the third set, not letting the Mastadons run away with another win. Lindenwood came out on top in a 26-24 victory, playing lockdown defense and offense yet again. Kyle Deutschmann had the standout defensive performance of the night, recording nine total digs, which was the highest number out of everyone on both teams.

Although Lindenwood took the Mastadons to a fourth set, they unfortunately fell 18-25 to the talented Purdue Fort Wayne squad.

Another noteworthy Lions performance came from Connor Sheehan, who recorded 31 total assists throughout the three sets and was a key contributor for Lindenwood all night. Alex Pappas was another consistent offensive and defensive presence, playing all four sets and adding five kills, three digs, and five block assists to his stat line against the Mastadons.
