The Lindenwood men's volleyball team dropped three sets to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday night in Columbus, Ohio.
Â
OVERVIEW
Lindenwood lost the first set 16-25, despite the stat lines for each team looking fairly similar. The Buckeyes were just cleaner defensively, however, executing 6.5 total blocks compared to Lindenwood's two. The Lions did have more receptions however, with
Phil Swartz leading the way with 11. Swartz would stay atop the leaderboard throughout the rest of the night, leading the way with 35 total. Â
The Lions closed the gap a bit in the second set, losing 20-25 this time. The Buckeyes got the Lions on blocks again, as well as tallying more digs as a group.
Kyle Deutschmann would lead the way for Lindenwood in total digs, posting seven overall during the three sets.Â
The Buckeyes ran away with the third in a 25-19 win, despite the Lions' strong effort to make a comeback. Ohio State recorded double the amount of total service errors that Lindenwood had (14 vs. 7), but the Lions couldn't capitalize on the Buckeyes' weaknesses. Â
A.J. Lewis led the way in the kills category for yet another match in a row, this time tallying ten total throughout the three sets.
Diego Negron was close behind with seven kills overall, and
Rodney Wallace and
Alex Pappas each put up five.Â
