The Lindenwood men's volleyball team beat Limestone in five sets to finish out their Lindenwood Invitational run on Sunday.
OVERVIEW
The Saints took the first set by a close score of 23-25, but the Lions answered back with a swift 25-21 victory in the second.
Clay Wieter led the way with seven kills, working hand in hand with Brian Scwhob, who executed 14 set assists. The duo dominated offensively for the Lions, while
Diego Negron tallied 13 receptions and
Kyle Deutschmann had four digs to spearhead Lindenwood's defense.
Limestone answered back by winning the third set 25-18, putting Lindenwood in the underdog spot going into the fourth. The Lions held on however, cranking out a convincing fourth set victory of 25-15.
Alex Pappas was an offensive force in this set, recording four kills and hitting 1.000. Deutschmann added six more digs to his stat line, which would help put him atop the leaderboard for the Lions with 14 digs total on the day.
Jeremy Kirch stepped in and helped contribute to Lindenwood's final set 15-12 victory with three kills and a solo block during the set.
Connor Sheehan also was an active part of the win, tallying six set assists and one kill.
Game leaders include Schwob with 36 set assists, Wieter with 14 kills (including the very last one of the match), Negron with 37 receptions and three service aces, Deutschmann with 14 digs and Pappas with five block assists.
