The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team beat Westminster in a 21-3 victory in Utah on Monday night.
OVERVIEW
The Lions came out strong right off the bat, gaining a 7-1 lead in the first period lead thanks to goals from
Natalie Gane,
Logann Eldredge,
Sara Grieco,
Hennessey Evans,
Clara Gallapoo,
Paige Sutton and
Bridget Considine.Â
The Griffins wouldn't score another goal until the last four minutes of the game, having a tough time facing a strong Lion defense.Â
Meredith Parry,
Sophia DeFrancesco,
Meghan Rea and
Emma Arnold all got on the board in the second period, while Grieco tallied another goal as well.
Aleksa Allen,
Faith Hamel, and
Chloe Elliott, along with Considine, all contributed goals in the third period, then
Olivia Tighe,
Carly Tobias and
Liz Beckner each netted one in the fourth.
DeFrancesco went ahead and put in two more goals in the fourth, which made her the leading scorer of the day with three goals total. Considine, Grieco and DeFransesco recorded two assists each, making it a three-way tie for the top spot on the Lions' leaderboard in that category.Â
Defensive highlights include
Eleanor Kast's six saves of the day, along with Arnold and Kate MacDonnell scooping up four ground balls each.
Kelsey Long led the way with two caused turnovers.
