The Lindenwood softball team (26-6, 13-3 GLVC) suffered on a setback on Sunday, falling to Drury (26-9, 12-2 GLVC) in each game of the league twin bill at Lou Brock Sports Complex.
Â
Taylor Bushman went 4-for-5 at the dish, including a game-two triple, while
Lauren Pelton and
Amanda Weyh each collected an RBI in the doubleheader.
Â
GAME ONE OVERVIEW
The Panthers scored first in the opener, with Kailye Luna plating Meagan Mullaney on a sacrifice fly. Lindenwood answered, however, in the fifth, when Pelton came through with a clutch two-out single to score
Irelynn West.
Â
Knotted at one heading into the seventh, Drury added two runs to the scoreboard with a pair of knocks off the starter Weyh. The Lions were unable to answer in their half of the frame, as Panther hurler Kristina Bettis retired the side in order.
Â
GAME ONE LEADERS
Pelton (1-for-3, RBI)
West (1-for-3, 2B, R)
Megan Clark (1-for-2, SB)
Â
GAME TWO OVERVIEW
It was all Drury in the night cap. After the Panthers plated two in the opening inning, Weyh lined a Karsyn Smith offering to left field to score Bushman to cut the deficit in half after one.
Â
However, that would be the only run the Lions would muster, as the Panthers scored eight unanswered runs to win in five innings, 10-1. Bushman collected three hits in the loss, while
Mya Bethany and
Morgan Gersch also tallied one hit apiece.
Â
GAME TWO LEADERS
Bushman (3-for-3, 3B, R)
Bethany (1-for-2)
Gersch (1-for-2)
Weyh (1-for-2, RBI)
