The Lindenwood softball team (34-10, 21-7 GLVC) capped its regular season slate on Sunday afternoon, dropping each game to visiting No. 16 Southern Indiana (40-10, 26-2 GLVC) from Lou Brock Sports Complex. The Lions suffered a tough 2-0 loss in the day's opener, while falling in the finale, 7-1.

GAME ONE OVERVIEW
The lone scoring action occurred in the top of the fourth, when USI's designated player Katie Beck smacked a two-run double off Lindenwood starter
Amanda Weyh to give the Screaming Eagles a 2-0 advantage.

It was one of only five hits Weyh surrendered, who struck out four visitors and induced four groundouts.

Lindenwood recorded six hits as a team, including two from junior
Morgan Gersch. Clark and
Mya Bethany reached base to open the seventh inning, reaching scoring position with nobody retired; however, USI ace Josie Newman shut down the threat with three straight fly-ball outs.

GAME TWO OVERVIEW
Southern Indiana jumped on Corwell, who started game two for the Lions in the circle, scoring six times in the second inning to nearly put the game away. Sophomore hurler
Brianna Macias finished the final five frames from the rubber, scattering one run on seven hits while striking out one.

The Lions' lone run came in the third, with a rope from Wendel that reached the left-center field fence to plate Bushman.

Lauren Pelton led all Lions with a pair of knocks, while seniors Bushman, Sample, and Scholz joined Wendel in the hit column in their final home contest.

NOTABLE
- The eight senior Lions wrapped up their final regular season with the best win total in the program's NCAA Division II history. At 34-10, Lindenwood finished in a tie for third place in the GLVC, and currently sit in the fifth position in the DII Midwest Regional rankings.
- Clark currently holds the team-lead with a five-game, reached-base streak.
- Wendel closes the regular season with an outstanding 1.086 OPS, along with a .391 batting average and 25 extra-base hits. The Seguin, Texas, native also sports a team-high 42 RBI.
- Weyh's 0.87 ERA and 0.75 WHIP tops all GLVC pitchers, while she and Esparza are currently in the top five among conference-only competition in ERA.

UP NEXT
The Lions finished in a tie for third place with Drury this season, going 21-7 in league play. Due to tiebreaker rules, Lindenwood will likely be named the No. 4 seed in the upcoming GLVC Championship Tournament this weekend in East Peoria, Ill.

An official announcement from the conference will be made in the coming days, along with any pertinent information regarding seeding, travel, and fan accommodations. This year's tournament will take place in East Peoria, Ill., at the EastSide Centre for the 18th straight season.
