The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team fell to the No. 1 seeded UIndy Greyhounds 5-14 in the GLVC Championship on Sunday afternoon.
OVERVIEW
The Lions kept things close in the first period despite UIndy knocking in the first three goals of the game.
Hennessey Evans would put the Lions on the board with less than three minutes to go, making it 3-1 going into the second.
UIndy would blank Lindenwood in the second period, finding the back of the net four more times despite tough defensive efforts from the Lions. After a scoreless period, the Lions trailed 7-1 going into halftime.
Three more Greyhounds' goals would come to open up the third, but Evans got things rolling again for the Lions, scoring her second of the game with 9:41 remaining in the period.
Paige Sutton netted one shortly after, and Evans would get one more goal as well, but UIndy had a tight grip on their lead throughout the entirety of the game.Â
Lindenwood's final goal would come from
Natalie Gane in the fourth period, but the Greyhounds put one more in as well to claim the 2022 GLVC Championship.Â
Noteworthy Lions' performances came from Evans, who led the way with three goals on the day, and
Emma Arnold contributed two assists, putting her atop the leaderboard in the category. Arnold also caused the most turnovers with three total, being a key player for the Lions on both sides of the ball. Gane,
