The Lindenwood baseball team (27-22, 16-12 GLVC) splits Sunday's doubleheader with McKendree (20-27, 15-13 GLVC) at Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo. McKendree won the first game by a margin of 4-1, but the Lions answered with a 7-3 victory to close out the regular season.
GAME ONE OVERVIEW
Lindenwood jumped on the board in the first inning, as
Ambrose Russo crossed the plate on a wild pitch to give the Lions an early 1-0 lead.
Tyler Cassmeyer pitched five quality innings, compiling five strikeouts and allowing just four hits. The Bearcats put up a pair of runs in the fifth to take a 2-1 lead, and added two more in the seventh to secure a 4-1 win to start the day.

GAME TWO OVERVIEW
The Lions again started the game by getting on the board in the first frame. Meyer drove in the first run of the game on a double down the right field line.
Sam Kissane brought a run across the plate on an infield single, while the Lions stole the third run of the inning on a rundown play to end the first inning. McKendree answered with two runs in the top of the second, by
Eli Brown stayed strong on the bump.
Kolby Schulte extended the lead back to two runs in the top of the fifth with an RBI single. Kissane brought in Russo on a single to left field, giving Lindenwood a 5-2 advantage. Kissane registered another infield single in the seventh frame, allowing Russo to score from third.
Alex Gauspohl broke up a double play, which allowed the Lions to add another run to their total. Brown continued to be dominant on the mound, as
Kyle Stoddard and
Jacob Thompson secured the 7-3 win in game two.
