ST. CHARLES, MO. - The Lindenwood women's soccer team (1-1-0, 0-0-0 OVC) fell to Nebraska Omaha (1-1-0, 0-0-0) in its home opener on Sunday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo by a score of 1-0.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood bent but didn't break in the opening half as they put together a strong defensive 45 minutes. The Mavericks had 11 shots, including two on target, while the Lions managed just one attempt off the foot of
Maggie Weller in the 31st minute, but it was stopped by the Omaha keeper. The game was tied 0-0 at the break.
The Lions struggled to generate much offensively in the second half, but goalkeeper
Sam Blazek kept Lindenwood in the game making four of her six saves during the second half. The Mavericks were able to find the back of the net in the 76th minute and take a 1-0 lead late in the contest. UNO would see the game out and pick up the one-goal victory.
