Field Hockey Downs Slippery Rock in 5-2 Victory

ST. CHARLES, MO. - The Lindenwood field hockey team defeated Slippery Rock University in a 5-2 win at Hunter Stadium on Saturday afternoon. 

GAME OVERVIEW 
Slippery Rock got out in front to kick things off, netting their first goal 9:01 minutes into the game. The Rock would maintain their 1-0 lead through the duration of the first period despite the Lions outshooting them 5-3 to start.

Grace Clem would be the first Lion to find the back of the net off the assists from Mia Simpson, answering Slippery Rock's call to tie things up. Pauline Terwindt would then go on to get her first goal of the game, taking the Lions to a 2-1 lead going into halftime.

Kara Kimery netted the lone goal of the third period, fighting through a scramble in front of Slippery Rock's net to get there. The fourth period consisted of goals from Terwindt and Rachel Goebel, who was assisted by Riley Enget

Kyla Cooke and Yamilet Ayala-Bravo shared today's goalie responsibilities, each allowing only allowing one goal during their minutes. Cooke came up big to make three saves as well, improving her goalkeeping record to 1-2 on the year.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
Terwindt led the way with seven shots, four shots on goal and two goals today, while Kimery, Goebel and Clem each netted a goal a piece. Simpson and Enget had today's assists with one each.

The Lions outshot The Rock 28-11 throughout the game, putting up an impressive 11 shots in the second period compared to Slippery Rock's one shot.
