Women's Volleyball Falls to Morehead State in Four

ST. CHARLES, MO. - The Lindenwood women's volleyball team fell in a tough 1-3 loss to the Morehead State Eagles on Saturday afternoon in Morehead, Kentucky.

"We played all weekend. The effort was there and in a lot of ways the team is coming together on and off the court the way we want them to," said Head Coach Will Condon.
"We just were not sharp in the details and that led to inconsistent play overall."

Lindenwood kicked things off strong, winning the first set 25-22, looking to set the tone for the entire match. However, the Eagles got a second wind and won the next three 20-25, 19-25 and finally, 15-25.

Many Lions stepped up in different areas today, starting with Madilyn Dement who had the most kills after recording 13 total throughout the match. Hitting wise, Rebecca Janke had the leading percentage of the day with .429 off of seven total kills. Janke also combined with Mackenzi Sifuentes for the strongest blocking presence, with each of them recording a team-leading four block assists a piece. Taylor Gentemann knocked down three services to put her atop the leaderboard in that category.

Defensively, Jessie Seidel led the way with 15 total digs, while Abby VanBuskirk was close behind with 14 digs on the day. Nyah Wilson played a well-rounded match as well, recording three block assists and 10 total digs. Wilson also had the most receptions on the day with 27 overall. VanBuskirk stepped up to contribute 32 total set assists.

The Lions fought hard, but were ultimately edged by the No. 1-ranked team in the OVC. "I do not think I did a good job of preparing them this week," said Condon. "I need to be better with our practice time so we are better when we step on the floor."

Up next, the Lions will continue their OVC run with a trip to USI this Friday for a 6:00 pm match against their former GLVC opponent, the Screaming Eagles.
