The roller hockey Gold squad had a dominating weekend at the Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (ECRHA) Inter-Regional January 21-22 at the Mt. Pleasant Sportszone in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania. The Lions won all four games they played, averaging 10 goals per game with a winning margin of over nine per contest.
Lindenwood began the weekend with a 9-1 victory over Slippery Rock AA on Friday, starting with six goals in the first, followed by three more in the second.
Bryce Pierce and
Sean Maude each scored twice, while
Andrew DeCiantis, Nicholaus Meyer,
Kade Uetz,
Nils Thegerstrom, and
Landon Kooker each scored once.
Dillon Dale helped the offense with two assists, while
Cameron Rodriguez and
Andrew Zack pitched in with one each.
Pierce earned Star No. 1 honors with two goals and an assist, DeCiantis was named Star No. 2 with a goal and two assists, and Kooker received Star No. 3 recognition with a goal and two assists. The Lions outshot the Rock 34-8 and
Chase Christopher made seven saves on eight shots in goal.
Roller hockey Gold shutout Farmingdale AA 11-0 in the second game on Saturday. Lindenwood scored three times in the opening frame, then added four goals in both the second and third.
Cameron Green, Pierce, and Kooker each scored twice while Rodriguez,
Matt Acosta, Maude, Uetz, and Thegerstrom had one goal each.
Pierce was named Star No. 1 with two goals and two assists, Kooker matched him and earned Star No. 2 honors, and Green received Star No. 3 recognition with two goals. The Lions outshot the Rams 26-4 and
Clayton Davis stopped the four shots he faced to earn the shutout.
In the final game of the day, a rematch of the first one, Lindenwood again stopped Slippery Rock AA, this time by a final of 10-1. The Lions jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first period, then added three more in the second, and a single tally in the third. Pierce led the team in goals with a hat trick, followed by Maude and Kooker with two each. Dale, Acosta, and Thegerstrom sounded the horn once for Lindenwood.
Pierce earned his third straight Star No. 1 recognition with three goals and two assists, Kooker was named Star No. 2 with two goals and an assist, and Dale received Star No. 3 honors with a goal and two assists. The Lions outshot the Rock 27-10 and Christopher stopped nine of 10 to earn the victory in goal.
In a rematch against Farmingdale on Sunday, Lindenwood defeated the Rams 10-1. After only scoring once in the first period, the Lions scored five in the second before giving up the lone Farmingdale goal. The Gold squad added four more in the final frame. DeCiantis led Lindenwood with a hat trick. Rodriguez and Zack each scored twice while Dale, Green, and Kooker each had one goal.
Rodriguez earned Star No. 1 honors with two goals and two assists, DeCiantis was named Star No. 2 with three goals, and Zack received Star No. 3 recognition with two goals. The Lions outshot Slippery Rock 33-8 and Davis stopped seven of the eight shots he faced to pick up the victory in goal.
With the four wins, roller hockey Gold improved to 12-1 on the season. After a weekend off, the Lions will play three games in the Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey League February 4-5 at Salt Creek Sports Center in Palatine, Illinois.
