Women's Hockey Takes on No. 12 Penn State This Weekend

The Lindenwood women's hockey team (3-21-0, 3-7-0 CHA) will hit the road for the first time in eight games and will take on No. 12 Penn State (18-8-2, 8-1-1 CHA) in a two-game set from University Park, Pa. Game one will begin at 5:00 p.m. CT, while puck drop in the series finale is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

The Lions are coming off a series split with Syracuse last weekend, dropping the first game, 4-1 before earning a win in the second contest by a score of 6-3. The six goals in the series finale were a season high, aided by multi-point efforts from four different players.

Among those four players was Morgan Neitzke who recorded a hat trick and an assist on Saturday. The hat trick was the first by a Lindenwood player since January 5, 2019, when Jada Burke scored three goals in a 12-0 win over Post. In total, Neitzke tallied five points (4 G, 1 A) in the series against the Orange, earning CHA Forward of the Week honors. The Jackson, Mich. native continues her stellar sophomore campaign, leading the team in goals (15), assists (11) and points (26). The 15 goals rank second in the conference, while the 26 points is fourth-most.

Rachel Goff is the other Lindenwood player with double-digit points as the Naperville, Ill. native has recorded 16 (9 G, 7 A) so far this season. The nine goals are a career-high for the senior forward who has found the back of the net in three out of the last five games.

After going the first 23 games of the season without a point, Sydney Rarick earned three in the series finale, registering one goal and two assists. The second assist came on the Neitzke empty netter, letting her teammate finish off the hat trick.

Julia Maguire was solid between the pipes, making 37 saves in the series finale, including 15 in each of the second and third period. Penn State and Lindenwood will meet for the second time this season, as the Nittany Lions earned a pair of wins earlier this year.
