Chris Childs Scores 18 Points in Loss for Men's Basketball

The Lindenwood men's basketball team (7-16, 2-8 OVC) lost 83-66 to Tennessee State (12-11, 4-6 OVC) on Saturday afternoon in Nashville, Tenn.
 
GAME OVERVIEW
The Tigers opened the game on an 8-2 run, but the Lions responded to the early call.  Kevin Caldwell Jr. hit back-to-back free throws before Chris Childs knocked down a three pointer to give Lindenwood an 11-10 lead at the 15:27 mark of the opening frame.  Remy Lemovou scored the next two buckets for the Lions, extending the advantage to five points.  Caldwell Jr. continued to attack the rim, as his two free throws put the Lions ahead by a score of 19-12 at the halfway point of the first half.
 
Lindenwood held a slim lead in the ensuing minutes, but the Tigers found their stroke from behind the arc.  In the final five minutes of the half, Tennessee State hit four shots from downtown to take a 44-30 lead and the momentum into the break.  Lindenwood was just 1-of-10 from three-point range, while TSU was 10-of-17 in the first 20 minutes of play.
 
The Tigers quickly added to their lead in the early stages of the second half, but the Lions battled back.  After being down by as many as 23 points, Lindenwood knocked down five three-point shots to in a span of four minutes to bring the deficit to 68-58 with 6:19 to play.  The Tigers were efficient down the stretch, and held on for the win over the Lions.
 
Lindenwood ended the game shooting 45 percent from three-point range, and put up 28 points in the paint, but the Lions couldn't keep pace with the hot shooting night from the Tigers.  Childs went 7-of-13 from the floor to lead the Lions with 18 points.  Caldwell Jr. put up 14 points and grabbed 5 boards, as he also dished out four assists and collected a pair of steals.
