Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Goff, Neitzke Score in Loss For Women's Hockey

The Lindenwood women's hockey team (2-18-0, 2-4-0 CHA) dropped the series finale with Minnesota State (11-11-0, 5-11-0 WCHA) by a score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon from Centene Community Ice Center.

GAME OVERVIEW
The best scoring chance for Lindenwood in the opening period came just over five minutes into the game when Sarah Dravis hit the post from the short side. Julia Maguire was strong in the first frame, stopping all 11 shots against as the game remained scoreless after 20 minutes of play.

The game remained scoreless until the 8:12 mark of the middle frame with Minnesota State getting on the board first. The Mavericks quickly doubled their lead, scoring just over a minute later a goal that was reviewed for a potential offside, but ultimately stood, making the score 2-0, which would be the score after two periods.

The Lions found their offensive game in the third period, generating some of their best offensive chances in the final period. The pressure would pay off at the 6:56 mark as Rachel Goof slid one past the Mankato netminder, assisted by Morgan Neitzke and Chloe Corbin, which made the score 2-1. Minnesota State would regain the two-goal advantage at the 12:14 mark, going up 3-1. The Lions kept battling, however. Just over a minute later, on a delayed penalty, Neitzke lit the lamp, once again making it a one-goal game. She was assisted by Corbin and Goff. Lindenwood kept working for the equalizer, but Mankato scored two late goals to seal the 5-2 victory.
