The Lindenwood men's tennis team geared up for the ITA Central Regional Championship held at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma today.
"We had some really tough draws this year, but was very pleased with how we competed, our intensity, and focus.. overall, It's been good, shown us some things we need to work on," said Head Coach Cole Stevenson.
Lindenwood's Fernando Martin Paz dropped his match against Mikhail Korkunov (University of Nebraska – Omaha) 6-4 and 6-2. Leighton Allen (Oklahoma State University) was able to defeat the Lion's Nathan Matsuguma 6-1 and 6-2. Carlos Rodriguez Gonzalez was determined to advance and that's exactly what he did, defeating Gabe Whiston (University of Nebraska – Omaha) 7-5 and 6-3.
Mattis Lamm dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Hank Trondson of the University of Oklahoma. In his second match of the day, Gonzalez dropped the match 6-1 and 6-4.
In doubles, Lamm and Matsuguma fell 8-1 to the University of Oklahoma's Hank Trondson and Mark Mandlik.
