MACOMB, ILL. – On Sunday afternoon, the Lindenwood Lions took on Western Illinois in the final game of the year. The Lions would try and mount a comeback in the latter part of the second half, but would fall short, losing 2-1 to the Leathernecks.
MATCH OVERVIEW
Five minutes into the frame, the Leathernecks would tally the first goal of the game. With four minutes left to go in the half, the Leathernecks would score again off a penalty kick. The Lions would trail 2-0 going into halftime. In the half, the Lions were tied with Leathernecks in shots, with five.
Erika Anstine would stop two shots in the half. The Lions would also have two corners in the half, while the Leathernecks had one.
In the second half, both teams were held off the scoreboard until the 79

Maggie Weller would break the Lions four game scoreless streak, putting a right-footed shot in the back of the net after picking off a pass in the Leathernecks defensive zone. The Lions had nine shots in the final frame.
Anstine started in net for the Lions but would later be relieved by
Jordan Hollingsworth. After this matchup, the Lions moved to 3-13-1 on the year, and 1-8 in conference play.
