NORTH EASTON, MASS. – On Saturday morning, the Lindenwood field hockey team took on Stonehill to end off their 2023 slate. The Lions would be shutout, losing 4-0 to the Skyhawks.
MATCH OVERVIEW
Five minutes into the first period, the Skyhawks would get on the board coming from a shot from the point. After one period, the Skyhawks would lead 1-0. The Lions were held to zero shots in the period while the Skyhawks had four. Penalty corners were all tied up at one, at the end of the frame.
Four minutes into the second period, the Skyhawks would find the back of the net once again, extending their lead to two. At 24:07 mark of the game, the Skyhawks would find the back of the net for the third time. Going into halftime, the Lions would trail 3-0. In the second frame, the Lions snapped the shotless drought, getting two shots off.
In the third period, both teams were held off the score sheet, with the Skyhawks still leading by three, going into the final frame.
In the final frame, the Skyhawks would find the back of the net once more with five minutes left to go in the game. After this matchup, the Lions fell to 3-11 on the season.
Kyla Cooke started in net for the Lions, making five saves.
