Women’s Ice Hockey Falls 7-2 to St. Thomas

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MO. – On Saturday night, the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team took on St. Thomas in the second game of their two-game series. The Lions would fall 7-2, after giving up seven goals in the first two periods.

GAME OVERVIEW
Ten minutes into the first period, the Tommies would put the first tally on the board. In the latter half of the period, the Tommies would three more times to extend their lead to four. The Lions would trail 4-0 going into the second period. The Lions would two shots in the first period, while giving up seven shots in the period. The Lions would go 0-3 on the penalty kill in the first frame.

In the second period, the Tommies would control possession of the game, scoring three consecutive goals to extend their lead to seven. With less than two minutes left in the second period, the Lions would get on the scoreboard, closing the deficit to six goals. Morgan Neitzke would be the goal scorer, being assisted by Sydney Rarick and Gigi Pora. The Lions would go into the final period trailing the Tommies 7-1.

In the third period, the Lions would keep the Tommies off the scoring column. With four minutes left, Rarick would put one in the back of the net for the Lions, making the score 7-2, advantage St. Thomas. Rarick's goal would be assisted by Neitzke, and Sena Takenaka.

Emily Finach and Natalie Ferenc spent time in the net for the Lions making a combined 26 saves. After this matchup, the Lions would move to 2-4-0 on the season.

The Lions will return to the ice on October 20th, to play Sacred Heart in the Ice Breaker tournament held in Fairfield, Conn., at 6:00 p.m. Central Time.
