On Monday, the Big South-OVC Association announced its weekly awards. Kobe McClendon and Spencer Redd of the Lindenwood football team were each recognized for their outstanding play this past weekend. McClendon was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week, while Redd earned Co Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

McClendon was a force on the defensive side of the ball this past Saturday. The St. Mary's product was in the Tennessee Tech backfield all day, compiling seven tackles, four of them being for loss. The St. Louis, Mo. native finished the game with three sacks, while also forcing and recovering a fumble in the third quarter. He also added a quarterback hurry to his outstanding stat line. McClendon now has 5.5 sacks on the year, tops in the Association. He helped the defense combine for the programs first shutout since 2005.

Redd opened the game with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and Lindenwood never looked back. The return TD was the third of Redd's career, the second most in program history. The Springfield, Ill. native wasn't done making big plays, as he hauled in a 52-yard touchdown grab in the second half.

McClendon, Redd, and the rest of the Lions are back in action this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. CT, taking on Charleston Southern in Charleston, S.C.
