Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Addy McAleer Posts 20 Kills in Four Set Loss To USI

Lions will end their regular season next week at SEMO

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Lindenwood women's volleyball (13-14, 9-7 OVC) dropped their final home match of the season to Southern Indiana (12-15, 8-8 OVC) by a final score of 3-1. The Lions' offensively posted 60 kills to just 51 by the Screaming Eagles.

"This was a frustrating match for us.  I felt like we spent most of it playing a high level," said head coach Will Condon. "USI did a good job of making everything difficult, and I thought we were willing to make the effort but for whatever reason the ball bounced their way."

Addy McAleer was the Lions' best offensive threat in the match posting 20 kills, her most in 11 matches. Not only did she have the most kills out of anyone on the team, she did it at an efficient pace posting a .288 hitting percentage.

The Lions struggled to keep their service errors in check after posting 13 of them in the loss to Southern Indiana. LU lost three sets on Friday evening by a combined nine points. They also had 21 attack errors to just 15 by USI.

Lindenwood hit over their season average on Friday with a .205 hitting percentage. Nyah Wilson had another big night for the Lions picking up her 13th double-double of the season with 13 kills and 17 digs.

Seven different Lions had multiple kills including eight from both Anna Kraemer and Rebecca Janke. Janke also had three solo blocks in the match while Wilson added another two.

Defensively, Lindenwood had four players post double-digit digs in the match led by Jessie Seidel with 28. Dana Grib also had 20 digs off the bench for her new career high. Abby VanBuskirk also picked up 17 digs along with a season high 42 assists.

"We had some great individual performances.  I thought Addy put a whole game together offensively, serve receive and defense.  Nyah had some great swings and was all over the place on defense.  Jessie everywhere and made a lot of tough plays.  Dana stepped up and made a lot of plays and score points behind the service line," said Condon.

Lindenwood will end their 2023 regular season with two matches at Southeast Missouri State. The Lions will then head to the OVC Championship the following week. For more information go to lindenwoodlions.com.
