Women's Volleyball Picks Up A 3-0 Sweep At TSU

Lions tie their 2022-23 record in wins with 12

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lindenwood women's volleyball (12-12, 8-5 OVC) pick up their third Ohio Valley Conference sweep of the season with a 3-0 win at Tennessee State (2-21, 2-11 OVC). The Lions hit .282 for the match with 45 kills.

Addy McAleer was a force at the net with a team high 12 kills on a .296 hitting percentage. Nyah Wilson and Anna Kraemer both were active as the outsides with 10 kills each. Lindenwood had six players with at least four kills.

"I thought we did a great job of keeping TSU off balance, creating opportunities for us to score and taking advantage of their mistakes," said head coach Will Condon. "TSU has some hitters that can stress your defense and we did a good job just limiting their opportunities to take swings."

After a rough start for the Lions in the first set (down 5-1 early), Lindenwood came back to take the set by a final score of 26-24. Wilson led the group in the first with four kills while Kraemer added another three.

The Lions' offense was especially dangerous from the service line with three aces all coming from different players. Jade Roth picked up four block assists to lead a group that had four total blocks in the set.

Lindenwood would dominate set two picking up their second straight set win by a score of 25-15. The defense forced six attack errors by Tennessee State while holding them to a .125 hitting percentage. The Lions also had 12 kills in the second with a match high .355 hitting percentage.

Friday's match came to a close with the Lions picking up the set three win by a score of 25-21. After starting off slow, McAleer swatted down six kills in the third set to power Lindenwood to their eight OVC victory of the season. They now tie the program's Division I record in wins (12) and conference wins (8).

Allie Otten and Abby VanBuskirk played a huge part in the offense on Friday picking up 21 and 12 assists respectively. Rebecca Janke added five kills with Roth and Ashley Geluck picking up four each. Jessie Seidel did it all on Friday picking up 13 digs and a season high seven aces.

"I thought both Abby and Allie did a great job of spreading the ball around and getting all our hitters involved.  I thought our freshmen all found their ways of contributing," said Condon. "It was good to see us bounce back from last Saturday and play like a team, have fun and be successful at a high level."

The Lions will return on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2:00 p.m. CT as they take on Tennessee State for their second match of the weekend. For more information go to lindenwoodlions.com.
